From a shared frustration to a focused tool
Balquhidder was founded by a small team who spent years juggling gig work, freelance contracts, and self-directed investing alongside full-time jobs. Every evening looked the same: scattered spreadsheets, half-finished research, and decisions made on too little sleep and too little data.
We built the first version of Balquhidder as an internal tool to solve our own problem — a way to pull together portfolio data, flag risk patterns, and surface decisions worth a closer look, without requiring hours of manual analysis. What started as a personal workaround became the foundation for the platform we offer today.
We remain focused on a specific audience: gig economy professionals and retail investors who are serious about building supplemental income but need support making sense of the data behind it.
